What is the Dallas area like? There is a chance I could get a job there with Bell Helicopter. I really hate the thought of moving there but the wife seems to think we should go. It really sucks too since we are just now finishing off the remodel of our home. After a year and a half all the hard work looks great. But the draw of moving to Dallas and there ultra low housing cost is hard to resists. So for anyone out there that has been around that area would it be worth leaving the GREAT state of Utah to go to Texas. (i.e hill billy hell) And bye the way ease up on the "jack Mormons" were all really not that bad.

Well I left Utah for "hill billy Hell" And honestly there's a lot more to do here than Utah with the exception of skiing. I miss the mountain but I love being able to afford a house in a clean town. Bell Helicopter is on of the big companies in the area and I think it would probably be a good opportunity at least on the surface, without knowing much about you. Property taxes are higher but they offset by the fact that there in no state income tax. good luck in your decision.

sunsfrk - I was in a similar position as you 9 years ago when I decided to move from Vancouver, WA to Utah. I've been in American Fork since 1999 and really enjoy it here. My kids love AFHS (my son just graduated) and playing in the band - one of the best in the west. Home prices have really gone up (my appraisal this year up 28%!!! ouch), but the job market is HOT with unemployment below 3%. If you're going to make the move now is the time to do it. The development in the north end of the valley has just exploded in the past few years bringing both good and bad changes, but overall the changes are positive. One thing you'll discover is you'll run into many people that have done the same thing. I've run into 5 or 6 people I grew up with in San Diego that made the move this direction. I promise you won't regret it and you get to watch BYU sports live and in person. What could be better than that?!?
