For so long, Barry Bonds has stood at the top of his games. His number one ranking has gone on for so long, it is hard to imagine a time when it was anything different. Of course, I speak of his standing as number one in the Bottom Five--people's edition. But times they are a changing and so it is time to crown a new leader. Of course you may have other nominees! Here is the Bottom Five's picks:
1. Roger Clemens--went toe to toe with Bonds in steroid denials. Roger the Dodger surpasses Bonds on the strength of his relationship with a country singer that started, platonically, according to Clemens' lawyer, when she was 15 years old. I guess all those growth hormones Clemens paid for his wife count as lost money? Wow
2. Michael Vick--doggone but I had about forgotten the dude....but then the Falcons drafted Ryan number 3....
3. Pacman Jones--Dallas Cowboys traded for Pacman to diffuse attention on Romo-Jessica, no wait T. Owens, no wait...
4. Barry Bonds--drops to number four because the silver thread in the black tapestry here is that not one team has opted to hire him...yet
5. Isaiah Thomas--great player; lousy coach, manager, etc. The one thing he really is good at is hanging on for longer than ANYONE thought possible....
