It has been such a while...what say ye? Time for a review:

OVERRATED: Several schools' football programs really got dinged for failure to make academic progress..Two of the most punished, with the loss of 8 scholarships each, were Washington State and Idaho. Curiously, these two schools are just about 7 miles apart...so do you think it is the water?

HURRAH: I love that story about the two softball players who carried their opponent around the bases after she hurt her knee and would not have earned a home run if her own teammates had helped her...the player carried around was on the small side, thank goodness, because just think if this had been Rosie O'Donnel That would have required the whole team eh?

OVERRATED: Let's hear it for Bill Belicheat. I hear Hillary would recruit him to head the NSA's spy satellite program......Speaking of cheating:

OVERRATED: I saw that OJ Mayo is being charged with accepting money etc during his tenure at USC. I grew up in LA...I wonder when they changed their name to U Start Cheating [here]?

JUST ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE: I saw a newspaper headline saying "Quakes, Storms and Riots Take Toll on China." Big deal...That's just another day in California isn't it?

I heard about the softball story as well. It sounds noble, but, correct me if I'm wrong, isn't there a rule about that if you are injured on the run around the bases on your own power, that the play is ruled a double (or something along those lines?) Just wondering...

As for the USC issue, it will probably get swept under the rug. USC is the "golden boy" of the West.

My understanding is that if you cannot make it on your own, you get a single....but there is no rule prohibiting a member of the opposite team assisting you as far as they are willing to assist. So, since it was a home run and no relay throw coming in etc, the opposing team's first baseman and one other player simply picked the injured player up and carried her around the bases, stopping at each base so she could tag it...Pretty cool sportsmanship in my book...

Overrated: Requiring a player to Run the bases after hitting a home run.

Underrated: Karl Malone's impact on the game and the population.
