I thought I'd have seen a post about this by now. Today on NBC, former Cougar Josh McAdams placed third in the steeplechase and by doing so earned a spot on the US Olympic team. McAdams was the NCAA national champ two years ago for BYU. His coach, (and BYU distance coach) Ed Eyestone, did the commentating for both today's final race and the prelim race which was on NBC a couple days ago.
I watched both races and BYU was mentioned several times as being McAdams' Alma Mater. Great publicity on national TV. Go Cougs!
A few other current/former cougars have competed at the Olympic trials recently but McAdams is the first to make the team I believe. My wife was on the byu track team... (
almost
qualified for the trails last year...anyway, her weight lifting coach competes today for a spot for shot put. She went to Stanford but coaches at BYU.
Just thought I'd give a cougar update
