It's about that time for the guys to return to school and get ready to play...Feb 22 is the 1st date vs Portland. It has been a great fall for the team with many new faces and also many returning players to lead the way. Although many may see no seniors as a large obstacle, it is not. The team is young and aggressive...we were close last year...1 out away, however, no excuses is the theme this year.
We lost, as always, many great seniors. However, BYU always finds a way to replace them and move to a new level. I believe this young team will get us to the NCAA regionals for the 1st time since 2001. TCU has been the more experienced team, but that is all in the past. Time to own our own place in the sun!
I will predict as I did last year a very good season...but with 40+ wins, a MWC championship and a trip to the regionals. A win over Oregon State at home and a 9-4 start on the road. We play 5 teams in the top 50, and 8 in the top 100. This an improvement over the past several years and will prepare the team for the MWC. Last year these same young players managed 8 national rankings in the NCAA in the the top 50 in BA, ERA, RUNS, TRIPLES, SLUGGING, S BASES, DP'S AND W/L RECORD. So, be ready to come out and support your cougars!! See you there!
