Senior left fielder Steve Susdorf: "This is a great thing for college baseball," he said without hesitation. "It shows you don't need a No. 1 draft pick to win the national title. You just need everyone working together."

What a self-righteous, holier than thou, pompous zoob that Coach Batesole is, insinuating that somehow doing things the "right way" helped them win. The nerve of some people. Just shows you how brainwashed they are.

Kudos to Fresno for running a solid program. They've certainly turned things around from their sports scandals of previous years.

The idea that anybody can win a national championship with proper teamwork and dedication is a noble one, and I'd like to believe it is true. However, it certainly helps one's cause when your sport has a wide-open playoff format to decide the national champion, and your team happens to be a traditional favorite in the sport. As has been argued ad nauseum on this forum, hard work, dedication, and a good record only take you so far in college football--reputation, media coverage, scheduling, and fluke losses in other teams are all required for teams like BYU (or Fresno State, for that matter) to win a similar national championship on the gridiron.

with the record they had it just proves what kind of sport baseball is. There is no elite conference...just better days
