I thought Collie was out with injuries, but he caught a pass from Cooper for a TD. Not as serious as initially thought?

His injuries aren't too bad, he'll be fine later this summer. There wasn't much contact allowed in the drills to end practice.

I disagree with the walk-on. Austin Collie and Mike Reed walk-ons? They seem to be our main WR's in the fall aren't they? I see many balls are touched by the WRE's and whoever else, but many are low, behind them, etc. It may be a factor of both receiver and QB.

I am thinkinbg back to last year and how the spring game. John Beck was healthy and the man. He didn't have a very Blue/White game and it was all pooh-poohed. Thena fabulous fall when it counted. These QB's are a little different. They haven't started for 3 years at this level and it will all be new. I hope we aren't relying on these guys (QB's) exclusively too much and not seeing anyone beyond them.

Last year, we were hearing about Jake Bower and all his skills. He is at Bakersfield JC now. That is a fall off a cliff. I just worry that our coaches get tunnel visioned occasionally and maybe miss someone. This seems to happen at QB more bacause there are fewer opportunities to see others than at most other positions. I think back to 3-4 years ago vs Boise St at home when we got SMOKED. We went to our #4 guy (Jackson Brown) that game. Injuries occur and, IMO, we need several guys on the depth chart to be ready instead of just 2. Who knows what someone may (or may not) show in a real game situation.

Go Cougars!!!

Michael Reed is really the only receiver from last year getting any reps during scrimmages and Collie is pretty much out. Allen isn't in the game and one of BYU's main receiving targets, the RBs, are down to the 4th and 5th string players.
These aren't the same guys who will be catching balls in the fall when it count's (for the most part.) The one exception to this point is TE's where the 1st string for the fall is also the the ones on the field, hence the reason they are playing such a big role in spring.

This incident brings to light an important lesson. It doesn't matter what other people do, it only matters what you do.

Can you imagine what this world would be like if everyone had that mindset? It would be a world full of leaders, acting not reacting.

Instead of thinking, 'How would I react to such-and-such situation,' we could say 'How will I take action, regardless of circumstances, to prepare for and solidify a future full of happiness and joy.'

Was anyone else impressed after reading this article with the way that Bronco is taking responsibility for what happened?

"I am responsible for these young men. I'm responsible basically for their motivation, I'm responsible for their teaching and I'm responsible for their agency. I view the actions of these young men as a program failure, which is reflective on me. I need to arm them with the knowledge base, the motivation and the education to be consistent regardless of circumstance."

I love the way Bronco is handling this. It's great to see a coach try to use something like this as a way to strengthen the team rather than either blindly defending the players or throwing the players under the proverbial bus.

I'm 100% happy with the way Bronco has handled these events so far, and I'm 100% confident that he'll address the situation fairly and adequately going forward.
