For all of us soccer fans out there, the Gold Cup just started yesterday. The gold cup is kind of like the regional qualifier for the FIFA confederations cup, where the champions of every region of the world compete.
Our region is pretty weak, with the exceptions of team USA and Mexico, and sometimes Costa Rica. Any predictions or comments?
My prediction is a repeat championship for the United States. I bet Mexico doesn't bring their full team to most games and gets upset. Then on to Copa America. But I bet you're right and most people don't know it's going on.
Anybody know if/how many US games are televised? I'd love to watch what I can.
All the games are to be televised on Fox Soccer Channel. The first game is tonight at 6:30 or 7. If you go to foxsoccer.com you should be able to find a link to their schedule for the other games.
My prediction: USA will it all like they ahve the last two times.
I think the USA takes it this time mainly because the Yanks have no real competition in Concacaf outside of Mexico. I'm more curious how the USA will do in the Copa America, though I have the sinking suspicion that the Copa America team will be more of a "B" team. Senor Donovan--the player who could most use the playing experience against South American competition--is undecided as to whether he'll stick around for the second tourney.
