Trying to sell friend on BYU soccer 11 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 4
I coached an exceptional soccer player in an under-8 league, and became friends with his dad. I'm trying to sell him on trying out BYU's soccer program. We'll have to see how it goes, but at least he knows it is another option. Of course, since he is Presbyterian, it may be much more of a hard sell.

Go Cougs!!!!!!!!

If he's not going to go to a decent NCAA D-I school, then BYU would be better than any other option. But isn't U-8 a little early to be considering college programs?

U-8 was a few years ago for him, but the talent was pretty obvious. He still has years to go, but it wouldn't surprise me if he does have collegiate talent. I also figured that if he turns out to be really good, I'd better get a recruiting pitch in early.

Go Cougs!!!!!!!!!

Try and get him to one of the BYU Soccer Camps. They are fantastic. I mentioned in another thread that my son went this year and his older brother has been two or three times before. They get great instruction, have pleanty of drills and play in games. If he is really that good, they will look at him and get some interest generated.

One drawback is that BYU plays in the PDL (Premier Development League) and has no scholarships available for players.

Good Luck...

Oh, they team had a great record this year and won their league.
