Having enough confidence that you are able to inspire your team is a good thing, BUT, being so cocky that the other players don't like you is a bad thing.
What makes me feel better about Hall is that the other players really DO seem to like him. From what I've read it seems that they like the confidence (cockiness?) that he's showing, and it's getting the team feeling pretty positive.
That would be the best of both worlds, in my mind. Having a quarterback that has some great skill ("...best QB we played against all year..."

, has the complete support of his teammates and is confident enough that if a few passes or plays go wrong during the first Q, he won't come apart and collapse from insecurity--that should win a few games.
So the key is this first game, really, even if we lose. If Hall keeps fighting to the very end (say, like an 06 Beck), then we can be assured that we've got a good thing here. If he seems to get worse if things go wrong (like a certain Utah QB against BSU last year), then we've got the wrong kind of "cocky" behind the ball.

Post edited by: Copper Cable, at: 2007/08/01 08:57
