They really need to retire #8. It really bothered me watching Matt Berry throw interceptions while wearing that number.

#14 should be retired as well.

BYU has already stated that they will not retire any numbers, only jerseys. They may change with time, but for now it appears that the jersey is as good as it will get for any former players.

I heard Harline is still open- but that could be a rumor as well.

I watched the BYU - Utah game twice last week on CSTV. And guess what? Harline is still open.

I honestly don't like to see numbers retired. I think it takes away from other athletes that want to wear that number down the line.

Negative karma for anyone who opposes the retirement of Ty Detmer's jersey.

Although, your concern may have some merit I disagree for two reasons:
1) It is good to honor the past and remember the greats
2) When BYU retired Young's jersey, they retired the jersey not number, hence people are still able to wear #8, even though it hangs in the rafters.
