Not bad unless you count all the other games available nationally on BYU-TV via tape-delay later the same evening of the game--that makes 12 of 12 available nationally.

I have had Comcast for about 4 years now, and the only thing I really like about it is that I get Versus and Fox Sports North in HD--good for watching NHL, Gopher hockey, and Twins games. I also get CSTV, that means that combined with what I get on Versus, I can watch about half of BYU's games.

The one thing that kills me about the whole ESPN TV deal is that BYU is never on in HD. Last year, BYU was in HD twice--the BC game on ESPN2 and the Las Vegas Bowl on ESPN(2?). Meanwhile I get all these other games on the ESPNs, ABC, NBC, and CBS in stunning HD. This year, it appears that only the bowl game will be in HD unless (cross your fingers) Versus decides to broadcast college football in HD. Those of you with HDTVs will know where I'm coming from--once you get it, it's hard to go back.

I feel your pain! I was so frustrated that the NBA was on ABC and channel 4 in Utah does not have HD. I watched the replay of the Utah game and had to shrink my projector image down for a viewable picture. I am making an effort to go to more games this year so I can at least watch them in RD.

It seems that the CSTV/MTN/VS broadcasts are as far from HD as you can possibly get.

I have to disagree here. While not HD quality, I think the picture quality for VS/MTN is better than CBS standard, on par with ESPN/ABC standard, and inferior to TBS standard football broadcasts. Yes, they all suck compared to HDTV, but when you compare apples to apples, the picture quality rates favorably.

Ironically, the least available network aka the MTN has the best broadcast quality as all their equipment is HD ready. Versus is decent, but their graphics engine sucks and really detracts from the flow.

I will, however, agree that CSTV falls far short in the quest for quality. CBS in general has always seems rather bland and grainy, and that fuzziness has carried over to CSTV. Add to that the chaotic scoreboard and tickers and you feel ill after watching for a bit. CSTV has yet to improve much over their BYU-Stanford debut.

Channel 4 broadcasts in HD over the air. I get their digital signal fine with an antenna (you have to have an NTSC --digital-- tuner though). The local news is not in HD but most of the stuff that ABC does (sports for example) is in HD.

So I've had Comcast for about 18 months now - I originally signed up through comcast offers which gave us internet for 19.99/month starting out... Because they keep having good offers my wife and I call up (sometimes it takes multiple times) to get better prices on what we are paying for. At one point we switched to basic cable (local channels plus history and discovery and a few odds and ends) and now we switched back to enhanced at the 24.95/month rate. Our internet is still only 30/month - Anyway, by doing this we've saved quite a lot of money and I love the speed of the Cable internet - sounds like a commercial but honestly it's really fast.
