Last year, last year, last year. This isn't last year and it doesn't matter who we lost last year. What matters is what we have this year. A better defense, a better OL, more depth at receiver, an offensive team with more experience running our offense and a better coaching staff. Our drop-off from graduating seniors will be less then yours with your loss of seniors and installing a new system. If your team can stay within 17 points you can consider it a moral victory for you and that will give you something to build on through the year. My guess is that by the middle of the third quarter your team will realize that they are facing a better team and if they aren't careful or they quit then it becomes a blow out and we get to see how good our back up quarterback is against the pac10's best defense.

With all due respect to your machine, we beat you last year along with three ranked teams on our way to a six win season. Are we satisfied with six wins but we are not ignorant to see the direction we are headed. You bring up media day. We were picked to finish seventh, I think there are a lot of questions that will be answered and we will finish much higher than that. Funny again however we were picked to finish seventh last year to, and that was still enough to get over your team. Say what you want about our qb situation, the facts are when Tui plays we win. Tui will be playing and we will be winning. Maybee after the seventh place pick in the pac beats you AGAIN, you will realize you, and your conference is overrated.
I really dont think anyone is overrating our conference, but anyways. With all due respect to your pac 10 seventh place team, you got a little luck on your side last year, you were facing a program which still had yet to find its groove and confidence. We were still reeling a little bit over the crowton debacle.
Can you sit there and honestly say that if we played you anyway like we played TCU, Oregon, or BC that you guys don't get your asses blown off the field? If you are honest with yourself you know you do. The fact is, you guys one. Props to you. But get off your freaking high horse and quit acting like you are a machine like USC is. You can be beat, and In my opinion, will be beat by a good margin come september 1st.
"Still reeling a little bit from the Crowton debacle"! You guys absolutely kill me with your pathetic excuses as to why you lost last year. You lost because you couldn't rush the ball!!! Crowton or Anae or the refs or your depth or any other excuses that you have used had nothing to do with the fact that you rushed the ball for 24 yards. Your great RB's and your great o-line didn't execute and thus you lost. Do you guys EVER just say you got beat?
As for getting our asses blown off - we beat Oregon at Autzen when they still had something to play for. You beat them in LV when they really didn't give a crap. We beat 8th ranked Cal and you beat tcu who with the 99th ranked strength of schedule was one tough team. As for BC, they were an average team in a very average acc. If you were "honest with yourselves" you would see that if we played you in November that we beat you like a rented mule!! Talk about riding a freaking high horse!!!
Oh my gosh! this quote is priceless, if you really believe that you guys would have beat us at the end of the year last year, I have some beach from property in Mesa to sell ya.
In November you were beating up the likes of 4-8 CSU,6-6 Wyoming, and 6-7 New Mexico. AZ was beating up 25th ranked WSU, 8th ranked Cal and Oregon at Autzen. Please tell me again why I wouldn't believe that we beat you in November??? It's not even close!!!
You had over 60 plays in the AZ game and you didn't get it done!!! Have you guys ever really lost a game or do you always blame a coach from 3 years agao, a new OC from 2 years ago, the refs, not knowing the running plays, not calling the right running plays, not playing the right rb's etc, etc. You got beat 16-13 and no matter what excuses you want to use the scoreboard never lies.
I have been on here before telling AZCATFAN that I respect his abilities to banter back and forth in a "productive" way. I mean that, I think this has been a good forum for that. Having said all that, THIS SCHTICK IS GETTING SOOOOOOOOO OLD. I can't wait to play this game and get this TALK over with. I say, No more BYU / AZ talk until Sept. 2. Give it a rest, I'm sick of it. BYU by 11, I'll post again on the 2nd. OUT!!!!!

I stand by my thoughts on Stoops. I have a pretty good idea what he inherited at Arizona (you guys have spelled it out pretty good defending him). If Stoops were the answer in Arizona, then you guys would already be good. You guys have had more then 1 top rated recruiting class since he has been there and his best season as a coach was 6 wins. There is no question in my mind that Tedford at cal or Carrol at USC would be at the top of the conference by now with the talent you have there.
I doubt it, they still would have had to deal with our OL. With that unit we had last year it wouldnt have mattered who was coaching, we would have been lucky to finish much higher. Maybe like 8 or 9 wins at the most, hardly tops in confrence.

Post edited by: kylecollins, at: 2007/08/12 17:00

We hadnt found our groove or any confidence yet either? And isnt that part of caoching, making sure your players are ready game one? And you are bragging about his coaching skills?
Do you honestly believe we would have let you play like that? You think your the only team that got better? The main reason we didnt blow you out is becuase our offense was putrid, mainly becuase of the OL. The same OL who was playing 3 guys in their first game ever. You dont think they got better as the year went on? We play later in the year and maybe they improve enough to hhandle your front 7. That happens and then all of a sudden we have a scoring threat to go along with the D, just look at how much better our offense was when we got anything from our running game.
And who is saying we are a amachine? Actually wasnt it you was saying that about the mighty BYU?

Post edited by: kylecollins, at: 2007/08/12 17:01

Here's the difference. LSU BEAT you last year. They outdid Arizona in everyway possible. There's no other way to look at it. LSU WON. There was nothing that Arizona could have done against LSU. But *anyone* who watched that Arizona/BYU game knows that BYU beat Arizona in every way except for the scoreboard. Arizona did outgain BYU on the ground, but due to one broken play that should have been stopped in the backfield, and instead was turned into a 50 yard gain. And I *don't* credit the talent of the running back, but fault the poor tackling by the BYU defender. If that play is stopped, then we actually outgained Arizona on the ground, too. If that play had been stopped like it should have been, then Arizona only gains 13 yards on the ground. 13 YARDS. I mean, we only got 24, but 13 yards...BYU had a couple of breakdowns which handed the game to Arizona. And they were not things that you can credit the Wildcat defense for. I do credit them for holding down the BYU running game. Brown didn't do anything. BYU could have won that game, had they done (or not done) one or two things. It was execution, or the lack thereof, that lost the game for BYU. So, no, I don't think that Arizona beat BYU last year. BYU beat themselves. One blown tackle, or one snap that's not bobbled, and BYU wins.
