Rumors Confirmed 10 Months, 4 Weeks ago Karma: 1
DN and KSL both have recently reported that six freshman were suspended from practice but not from the team. It doesn't sound like they did anything big, and they will get to return to the team as soon as they do some life-lesson type assignment.

At the end of both stories is something interesting. In Harmon's story he said that a relative of Kessman posted on TBS that Kessman will ask out of his scholarship to play somewhere else. And then in the end of Wrubell's blog he said that a starter's status is still in the air for some unfinished business.

From the Deseret News article:

A relative of one of the players, receiver Kessman, posted on an Internet chatroom (Total Blue Sports) Thursday night, that his son planned on asking BYU's athletic director for a release from his scholarship to transfer and play somewhere else.

Gee, I wonder which relative that is....

Is it just me or is Harmon reaching a tad in quoting someone claiming to be someone in an internet chatroom...I'm not sure people are completely honest about who they are in there, but that's just me

This is bad bad bad. Kessman was such a great story. Committed to BYU so far in advance...seemed to be fully invested. This is not good if it is all true. All I can say, is that there better be a legit reason for these suspended players.

A couple of things. First, you say there better be a "legit reason" for the suspensions. I can assure you there is. In fact, I'm a little surprised they were only suspended from practice and not from the team, at least for a while. They signed an honor code, and they were caught breaking it. Second, you say that Kessman was such a great story. Unfortunately, that story was not translating into success on the field. It wouldn't surprise me if he did transfer from school this year, because, as totally invested as he seemed when he committed, he has been struggling at least that much on the team. I could say more, but I'll simply leave it at this: Coach Mendenhall has been patient and understanding in this and other, related affairs. There is no reason to question his judgment.
