Kessman from what I can tell has been a major disappointment. He got no mention during fall practices on this board, was never really considered on the two-deep from what I can tell.
Please let me know if I am mistaken on any of these issues.
You are not mistaken about his lack of production on the field. It surprised a lot of people; and thus, his placement on the scout team should not have surprised him. It's true that forty speed isn't all it's made out to be, but still, a receiver should be faster than his D-linemen. That's something he really needs to work on. Personally, I think a year of working under Coach Omer would help him a lot, not only in developing more speed, but in developing the inner strength and character it takes to excel at difficult things.
So, I went back to look at Kessman's HS highlights and it is dissapointing to hear that he hasn't shown the potential yet at BYU that he did in his highlights. I know it is HS, so maybe it was just a competition issue. He did look slower in some clips...but it seemed more like he had deceptive speed. He also seemed to be strong...hard to bring down. Hopefully things will be resolved and we will turn into a big contributor.
HS clip of his Jr year when he played WR (I guess his Sr. year he was utilized more at R
