There are plenty of BYU/LDS athletes who have won Olympic medals or have reached the top levels in the NFL, NBA, or MLB. I don't know of any for soccer, so I'm checking to see if anyone else knows.
There was a player on BYU's womens team that played on the gold medal winning US national team. Her name escapes me at the moment though :S
I think you are referring to Aleisha Rose (she's married now, but can't remember her married name).
That was about 3-5 years ago, if I remember correctly. In fact, I think she gave up her career so she could start and raise a family, much to the chagrin of her father.
