1) How do you go +3 in turnovers and only win by 7 points?

2) Utah's offense did NOT look good tonight. They gained 57 yards after half-time. TCU repeatedly shot themselves in the foot by throwing interceptions, so Utah's only second-half score (a field goal) was enough. But their 2nd half drives where 5 yards (Punt), -3 yards (Punt), 27 yards (Int), 44 yards (Field Goal), 6 yards (punt), 1 yard (Punt), and -23 yards (end of game). Even taking off the last drive (Johnson was running around to take time off the clock), they still only ended up with 80 yards after half-time. Against just about any other team they have left, that won't cut it.

3) TCU will lose 2 more conference games (BYU, New Mexico) if they can't get their offensive troubles ironed out. No offense can be so one-dimensional and be truly successful. Andy Dalton HAS to start making better decisions. 4 INT's (with another nullified because of a penalty) plus at least 2 others that the DB just couldn't come up with is a recipe for disaster against almost any team.

4) Utah will lose at least 2 of their last 4 games (New Mexico, BYU) unless they can iron out their in-game ups and downs. They score 10 straight, give up 14 straight, score 14 straight, and then don't score again until 7:51 is left in the 4th quarter. Shut down Darrell Mack, and you shut down Utah. Wyoming is the swing game right now. If they can duplicate the rushing dominance they've showed against several teams this year, then Utah's only other win will be Colorado State. The good news for Utah is they need only 1 more win to be bowl eligible, and 2 wins will most likely get them a bowl bid.

5) The jury is still out on Utah's defense. They were opportunistic (2 of the picks were basically doing the tip drill), but they were also the beneficiary of some VERY poor decision making by Andy Dalton. 20 points against Air Force and 27 point against the Rebels (neither of which is an offensive juggernaut), plus 28 2nd half points against Louisville show that the defense is vulnerable, although they seem to do well against one-dimensional teams (San Diego, TCU).

6) Likewise, jury is still out on TCU's defense. They have played well in spurts, but have also had appalling lapses (232 yards rushing given up to Wyoming, allowing Air Force 14 points in the 4th quarter). Combine that with a collapse at Texas (34 points allowed in the 2nd half) and you have a defense that has not lived up to its billing.

Should be an interesting next few weeks in the MWC.

Thanks for the analysis. TCU is not a very good football team....again I wonder why they received so much pre-season hype.

Very good analysis - you hit the nail on the head on what I saw, as well.

BYU just needs to play straight up - without the turnovers - and they should win out. I have no doubt about this, based on what I've seen of our last 3 opponents.

I mean c'mon, are there really Ute fans in Utah county? You must be one of all 5, including my former neighbor.

Yeah, you guys got the UCLA win - nice. But, really, when they overlook you at Rice Chex, it's hard not see why they lost.

Oh, and you guys got SHUT OUT at UNLV - that REALLY sucks. You guys are schizophrenic, at best. I wouldn't be surprised if you end the season @ .500.
