I served my mission with Jamison Fitt. He played linebacker for Snow and did very well there. Last time I talked to him he was grayshirting for BYU, which won't get you on the roster if I understand correctly. Things could still happen with him but if he isn't on the field then he still has time to play. He told me it was his dream to run out of the tunnel at Cougar Stadium so I don't think anything short of a career-ending injury would keep him from doing that.

Not to my knowledge. Manase Tonga younger brother Matangi Tonga (DT) was on the team last year but was kicked off for some problems. He is back at BYU now and should be with the team in January.

i was wondering what happened to matangi cuz i knew he had been kicked off and i didnt think they were going to let him come back...that is good though he was a 4 star and had a good freshman season..so are they going to let him come in as a sophomore or make him skip that year and he will be a jr.

Good call. Apparently where I was looking if someone grey-shirts they show up as "mission." Glad to hear he is still around.

Matangi got into trouble with the law and the team but left the school before the Honor Code got involved. He has worked out the law stuff (I think he's on probation for a while) and will be back with the team. They will likely treat it as a grey-shirt year and he will return as sophomore for the 2008 season and be back practicing with the team as early as January.

If he didn't have a scholarship, or play a single down, he didn't lose any eligibility-just as if he had served a mission....

I totally forget about him sometimes.....it makes me so excited about this defensive line next year.
A good defensive line makes life so much easier for the secondary...considering how young our corners will be this is such a blessing...

As far as fast slot receivers, I've read a bit about Cody Raymond (prep) and Nick Frandsen (juco). Any possibility that either walk on or get promised a schollie after a mission/redshirt?

I'm always petrified that we're missing out on the next Kevin Curtis or David Anderson because we're so in love with a Todd Watkins, Jonathan Pittman or worse case Rod Wilkerson....
