That '83 team in my mind was the best BYU team ever. That UCLA team went to the Rose Bowl that year.

Here's one thing I love about Bronco, he's reversing all of the negative trends for BYU. Think about it:

1. When Bronco took over BYU had 3 straight losing seasons: REVERSED in 2005 no losing seasons since.

2. BYU lost 4 straight Bowl Games: REVERSED in 2006.

3. BYU lost 6 straight games against Pac-10 teams: REVERSED in 2006.

4. BYU hasn't won 2 straight conference titles since 1996: Reversed in 2007.

I'm confident he can reverse the trend against UCLA, but it won't be a gimmie game. I'll bet it will be much closer than the Las Vegas Bowl from last year.

5. BYU hasn't beaten a top 25 team (at home or on the road) in ~10 years: REVERSED in 2006.

6. Giving in to the Nike uniform Nazis who tweaked us into and out of the bibs, and out of tradition. REVERSED.

I really hope that the team is so focused for this, that the score is 42-0. I want to see total domination, so all the talk about the early season loss would be erased. If there is a hiccup here, then next season doesn't begin with the same amount of potential.

The thing that worries me is that it sounds a lot like the year we played A&M in the Holiday Bowl, and everybody complained that they weren't a good enough opponent, then they come out and completely wax us. We need to be really excited about this, and get up and smack these guys right in the kisser.

Hey,
In my opinion our Bowl history had less to do with our competition and more to do with NOT having adequate practive facilities during December before hte indoor practice facility was built. I think we ought to count our bowl winning percentage from that time

I think that the old bowl history has more to do with the team thinking it was vacation, than a springboard for the next year.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner! It wan't just the team. Edwards preached that to the media and fans. Whenever the lost an OOC game or bowl game, he always talked about it being a great reward for a hard fought WAC season and that the only thing that mattered was winning the WAC. That was the mindset top to bottom. Drove me nuts.
