Sagarin ratings has No. Iowa at 62 and Nevada at 102 this year. So maybe our SOS will actually go up...

With the limitations of 1) needing a home game 2) having a full schedule next year (meaning can't offer a return game until at least 2009) and 3) lateness of the opening this is actually a pretty good get. Sure we all wanted LSU to come in next year, but that was highly unlikely.

People wanted us to give up a home game to play at Rutgers or Indiana, and get no return game. That is just plain dumb. I think we should start scheduling 7 home games a year. Only play 1 OOC conference game a year on the road.

so you want to weaken our schedule more than we already have. Texas Tech was available so was Miss St. and a bunch of good teams. My point we wont get any national respect or recognition until we start playing some good teams. I am happy about the 4 against Boise. We did have 4 against Notre Dame does anyone know what happenend with that

Thanks for the info. I appreciate the correction. I guess it's more accurate to say "perceived" SOS. Even if Northern Iowa is stronger than Nevada in the computers, in the eyes of the voters, and the media, a I-AA game is a I-AA game. Regardless of how good N. Iowa is--and I'm sure they're good--most people are going to look at that game with more suspicion than they would even a lower-tier I-A team. At least that's how I see things.

The interesting thing this last year was the perception and reaction over the Michigan loss to App State. Nobody knew who App State was, just that they were at D-IAA team that walked into the big house and took one from Michigan.

So, if we win the No. Iowa game, it's no big deal, we had a nice warm up (in my mind better than warming up on Arizona). If we lose... We're toast...

for what it's worth, northern iowa is the most respected football team here in iowa cause everyone knows they have the best team. northern iowa beat iowa state and iowa state beat iowa.
