Why Bronco must remain as HC for at least 10 years 7 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 3
I would guess that nearly 100% of Cougar fans are supportive of Bronco as our HC. I know that all of us on this forum are very happy with not only the success of the program but, more importantly, the direction of the program.

But everything that Bronco has established is still in its infancy. If he were to leave, for any reason, within the next 2 or 3 years I believe it would devestate BYU football. The reason is that there are no potential succesors that can do what Bronco is doing. Even someone from the current coaching would be a cheap imitation of Bronco at this point. I believe the successor to Bronco will need to be someone who has played under him at BYU. But there won't be anyone ready for at least 10 years (but by that time we should have a great pool of former players to choose from). If Bronco can continue to make the program better each year he will have built a real "program" in ten years that will have his fingerprints all over it. And at this point my leading candidate to take over for Bronco is...

Cameron Jensen!

I don't expect Bronco to stay as long as LaVell, but here's hoping for at least 10 more years.

In two or three years, if Bronco were to leave, I think that the logical choice would be Brandon Doman. At that point Doman would be in his mid-30's and have coached with Mendenhall from the beginning of his time.

Cameron Jensen is an interesting choice. I don't know if he is interested in coaching. Another very likely possiblility, a few more years down the road is John Beck.

If Bronco were to ever leave in the next few years heaven forbid, but if he did the likely canidates would be either Mike Holgrem or Andy reed. From what I have heard they both would likely be interested.

Sorry, but I don't think any of them would be able to out-Mendenhall Coach Mendenhall. I hope we don't have to worry about this subject for many years.

It won't be Holmgren...I know he coached with Lavell in the mid 80's, but I don't think he is LDS, I could be wrong about that, but nonetheless...a requirement for the BYU HC.

If anyone has ever seen any Inside The NFL stuff or NFL network stuff of Holmgren miked up on the sideline, you might think differently. Not to say he couldn't be LDS but if he is, he'd probably want to clean up the lingo, LOL!

Didn't Brian Billeck coach at BYU also? Don't think he's LDS.
