I am a bishop and cannot believe this is the whole story. I hate it when they hold the atheletes to a HIGHER standard than the regular students. I know this can be fixed. He is a kid. Give him a break. Go Cougs

But, there has got to be more to the story and having a stake president ask the father to " don't hurt your son by making a big issue out of this" and the fact that BYU and Ecclesiastical leaders hold spiritual issues confidential, the only way we are going to find out the truth is from him or someone close to him and his transgressions are broadcast across the internet. Bad choice for the father.
This guy sounds like he knew the rules, especially if he had been warned previously not only by his bishop, but by his coach as well. I would be crossing all my 't's and dotting all my 'i's.
"Hey bishop, I know you are concerned about my church attendance, just wanted to let you know I was in Cedar over the weekend." how hard is that.
I have to believe that this consequence was made aware to him...
Tough deal and I personally error on the side of mercy... who knows maybe they already did that too...
