Give it a shot Airwolf; I'm pretty sure the Supreme Court has ruled on this a few times (based on cases brought by wingnuts trying to challenge the Constitutionality of the Federal Income Tax). Let us know if you can still post from Federal Prison when your case is finished.

In my Criminal Law class last semester there were a couple of these cases. They were in the text book/lecture section entitled "MISTAKE OF LAW". (It doesn't end well for these kind of people; then again, the interest rates that the SC and lower courts have applied to Defendants' back taxes in these kind of cases is relatively reasonable)

Let me enlighten you:

Fact: The IRS is a fraudulent and illegally-created institution that is NOT a U.S. government agency, but rather a private entity owned and operated by the Central Bank, which was given control of our monetary system back in 1913 by Pres. Woodrow Wilson. Not long after this transfer of control of our money system to a bunch of private bankers, Pres. Wilson said that he had just destroyed his nation and indebted future generations to financial bondage.

Fact: Many people have challenged the constitutionality of the income tax and were not convicted by a jury in our courts because it is unconstitutional and no law exists that says we are required to pay tax to the government on wages earned from labor.

Fact: There is no law that says that the government cannot tax the people. But Article 8 of the US Constitution does state, "The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States." I would prefer a better tax system, but Congress clearly has a right to tax for three reasons: pay debts, common defense, and general welfare. That is pretty broad and you are not going to win a Supreme Court argument against that. Sorry Airwolf.
