Fact: There is no law that says that the government
cannot tax the people. But Article 8 of the US Constitution does state, "The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States." I would prefer a better tax system, but Congress clearly has a right to tax for three reasons: pay debts, common defense, and general welfare. That is pretty broad and you are not going to win a Supreme Court argument against that. Sorry Airwolf.
