I think Utah is going to be the hardest game the whole year. We can beat UCLA at home. We can beat Washington on the road. TCU may be a tuff game also, because it is at TCU. This is great that we are on the BCS alert already. I think the main reason we were not included in a BCS game in 2001 is because we had to come from off the radar, but this year will be different. I'm bringing tortillas to the first home game! BYU to the Fiesta Bowl! Go Cougars!

the reason we were not getting a BCS invite in 2001 was because we were a mid not because we came off the radar. they simply didn't want a nonbcs team getting their money. Of course they had to open their mouth a game to early.

As for that list a few points.

1. BSU is in noway ahead of Utah. BSU went 10-3 for one reason and one reason only they played in a division 2 conference and played a very sorry OOC, if they played in the MWC they would have been lucky to finish 5th. Next year they will do well because they still play ina division 2 conference and they still play a weak OOC. Oregon will likely roll them and roll them bad. they may even drop one to Southern miss. i also expect them to drop 1 or 2 in conference games next season. Why? well last year their O-line was loaded with talent and experience. Easily a top 5 O-line but they didn't play to expectations. they looked sketchy at times and far from impressive. they recently had a change in coaching at that position and I think we saw that it produced a lower yield of product on the field. this year they replace nearly everybody and I fully expect to see a weaker O-line. New QB and last years was not that good. defensively they were horrible when ever they found a team with a decent running game, their front 7 are average at best their secondary was good but they lost their best saftey and their best CB.

2. Hawaii has no biusness being on that list. they were only good last year do to playing the sorriest schedule in college football and having a favorable WAc schedule and having their already division 2 conference play like a division 3 conference didn't hurt either. this coming season they have a new QB who in the Nevada game looked like a pure system QB and an average one at best. sorry but Nevada's defesne was amognst the worst in the country and they put up avaerage numbers. New system though it should be very similar new WR most of which will be juco they hope can play at the next level. and a tough OOC. They'll be lucky to get more then 1 win OOc and they'll likely drop a game or two in conference and then get rolled in their bowl game.

Didn't BSU replace Hawaii as the "weakest" schedule after their last season game? It sure didn't look good for the WAC that their top 2 teams were last and second to last in weakest schedule and both lost their bowl games.

Based on what? Utah has finished, what, 6th, 4th, and T-3rd in the MWC the last 3 years, and wasn't ranked once? Boise State finished 1st, 1st, 2nd in the WAC and was ranked all 3 years.

My BCS-Buster List would look like this:

1. BYU (this article agrees: http://cfn.scout.com/2/732803.html )
2. Boise State
3. Utah
4. Tulsa
5. Fresno State
6. TCU

They also have this to say:
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3270367

"BYU should enter the season ranked in the top 20 and carry the label as this season's non-BCS darling, but there's still work to be done this spring. Coach Bronco Mendenhall gave up defensive coordinator duties to Jamie Hill. Though Mendenhall will continue to call plays, he and Hill must evaluate a unit that needs new bodies in the secondary and at linebacker."

based on pure opinion off of what i saw last year. Utah returns a lot of key players and played very well last season. BSU went 10-3 ina conference that stank it up bad and lost to ECU. They played no one last year and still lost 3 games. BYU, Utah, and NM would have in my opinion likely have went undefeated with their schedule.

BSu replaces their QB and 4 O-lineman. they also replace their best CB and their best Safety on defense. their D-line returns and same with their LB's but they looked vaerage at best facing some pretty average offenses and couldn't stop the run all year. I think and i could be wrong that their o-line will struggle next season. My reasoning is that they had a very strong group last season that played very well in 2006 but played sloppy in 2007, likely in my opinion due to coaching since they lost their O-line caoch from 2006 and had a new O-line coach this year. sorry but a very experienced group like that usually doesn't get worst they usually get better or at least stay the same.

Also comparing their postion in the WAC is pointless since I personally feel from watching their games that Hawaii and BSU would have struggled to finish in the top 4 of the MWC last year. Being 2nd in or even 1st in the WAC is not the same as being 1st or 2nd in the MWC. sorry but the depth and even at the top outside of BSU the WAC has nothing truly compaetative. further more last yera is a better indicater since 2005 and 2006 BSU squad is pretty much gone for BSU with the exception of Ian Johnson and same with Utah their 2005 and 2006 starters are not the same not even close so comparing those teams for 2008 season is simply pointless. that is like BSU fans still thinking they can beat BYU because they were able to beat two bad BYu teams under a different coach 4 or 5 years ago. sorry different coach, different mentality, different players=meaningless.

Now if you are giving them an advantage due to their lack of playing ina good conferecne and playing a division 2 type of OOC then that would put them above utah since Utah actually plays real teams in their OOC, and coicidently is a better BCS playing team then BSU.

My list would be;

1. BYU
2. Utah
3. BSU
4. Tulsa
5. Fresno
6. TCU

Outside this group their is no other competetor.
