The Broncos have won 4 of the past 5 WAC football championships, including 2 undefeated regular seasons, 4 top 25 rankings, and a BCS Bowl win. They are 13-0 against MWC school since joining I-A, after winning a national championship at the I-AA level. And they have had this level of success under 3 different head coaches in a row now. They run one of the best bowl games in the Mountain West region in the Humanitarian Bowl. Plus they're in the process of expanding their 30,000-seat stadium to 40,000+.
This year, they won the WAC in BOTH Men's and Women's Basketball. Their arena is home to the Utah Jazz during the training season and has hosted 7 NCAA Regionals, and will again in 2009. Those are the 3 major sports folks, aside from the perennially ranked Boise State wrestling, tennis, track & field and cross country teams (among others).
Why they aren't in the MWC (along with Fresno State and potentially Nevada) I'll never know. It's reason enough to me for Craig Thompson to get fired.

I don't mind the idea of Boise State in the MWC. Adding Fresno State and Nevada does nothing for the conference. If Boise State has been kicking the crap out of them, imagine what would happen to them in the MWC. Nevada is chicken to play us and wants no part of a better conference. I have respect for Fresno State and hope we play them in our out of conference schedule in the future.

TV dollars. Adding Boise State would not enhance the television package that the MWC has with advertisers only because the Boise media market is so small. Bringing Boise State into the conference could actually hurt revenue for the repsective MWC teams.

Really? Smaller than Laramie?
Not only is the Boise area in the upper half of the MWC as far as size, it's near the very top in terms of growth.

I agree with Mars!! Boise St. being in a better conference would grab the entire states population. They are the BYU of the WAC. Cause we just about win everything too!!!
