ALSO, Cottonwood is doing a very good job in their sports programs in general. The success they are having is quite Timpview-like in that success breeds success.
Many excellent players are open enrolling at Cottonwood to be a part of something special. Not all players are directed out of state by any means there are more players on Utah's roster from Cottonwood than any other school. Weber state also gets 1 or 2 players PER YEAR.
Crowton didn't do much of a job there. The jury is out on how well Doman is doing but I know the Cottonwood coaches came to the coaching clinic and several kids were at Jr Day last month and more are expected Tomorrow (June 1) as well. ALSO both Doman and Coach Anae have come to workouts during May recruiting.
In the meantime ANY time a wealthy guy wants to spend some money upgrading a PUBLIC high school, in any way..................THAT'S OK BY ME!!!!
i to think mr cate is having a positive impact at cottonwood high school. he is putting sports turf on the football field as you read this, and the weight room is better then many colleges. more improtant is that kids have a proctored study hall to help them keep their grades up. it is to the point where they have to check in with the strength coach, and if their grades aren't up to par, they are sent to study hall until they are, then they can train.
that doesn't eliminate the boundry conflicts that are bound to happen, and it doesn't change that fact that unless something changes in the next few years, cottonwood high school may cease to exist.
either way, props to mr cate and all he has done, especially when you concider that utah has one of the lowest per student spending rates in the united states.
