The difference in the game is that each team needed someone to step forward. Carter did it. Congrats to the Aggies. Like usual, the cougs waited for someone else to step up, and we got caught watching.

I think we got the seeding we deserved. We haven't shown the committee we're ligitimate contenders. All we showed them this season was we're close. We were close to winning against UNC, close against MSU, close against WF, close against UNLV in the MWC tourney and close against A&M.
Close, but no cigar. We want love and "respect" from the committee we have to show we can finish close, important games, and we can't.
Only "respectable" win this season was over a dipleated Louisville team. Sure our RPI was 25, but a lot of that had to do with the fact we just played UNC, MSU and WF. We got browny points for losing to them. Next year, if we want the seed we "deserve" we have to win those games.
Still disagree. Each year should be seeded independently, and depend only on the games played that year. Also, we weren't close to WF. But, unlike A$M who we just lost to, we didn't have any games where we only scored 10 points in a half. Purdue played high RPI teams in the Big 10 that would pad their RPI as well. They have no excuse for such a bad RPI.
Now, having said that, UNLV got hosed worse than we did. Not only should they have had a 5 seed with their RPI, they certainly played like a 5 seed today.
Go Cougs!!!!!!!!

Part of the problem is that the committee is inconsistent with RPI. There were a few teams with RPI in the 30's that didn't even get in so obviously there is a lot more that they consider when seeding besides RPI. And right or wrong, your tournament reputation is going to play in to that. They need to decide what RPI means. Either it is a key indicator of team quality or it isn't.

I was disappointed AND excited by the following:
DISAPPOINTED
1. As a team, BYUs complete lack of heart. I don't say that lightly, they deserve that criticism. Where was the fire? Where was the jumping up and down, psyching up your teamates, showing a little spunk? Every face shot of BYU players--both on the court and on the bench--showed either a "frightened to death, here we go again," look or what looked to me like complete disinterest. That lack of determination and heart was clearly demonstrated by BYUs complete failure to rebound the ball. A&M did NOT put on some clinic on agressive, sound rebound skills. They outrebounded us because we were SO often flat footed and weak (i.e., Plaisted letting guys push him entirely under the basket).
EXCITED
1. All of what I just said doesn't apply to Fredetter or Collinsworth. I have started to feel "giddy" when Colinsworth takes the floor. He often makes an instant impact; Jimmer, meanwhile, did have the fire I so wanted to see in everyone else. So maybe the future boads better than we think?

Jimmer was the only one out there showing some passion. The kid wants to win and thirsts for it. We was the bright spot of the game as was Colinsworth play. Great passes and defense by him. Should have dunked it on that breakaway, but awesome play from him.
I think Trent and Lee are competitive, but they are inward with their emotions which can cause them to collapse and certainly doesn't help fire up their team. McGregor next season will some fire.

I was doing some reflecting. When was the last time we played "our game"? The answer I came up with was the CSU game, opening game of the MWC tourney. That was the last game that EVERY player knew they would win. There was no doubt from a single one of them. Every game since has had doubters. Believe me.
Granted CSU wasn't a good team and that had a lot to do with our confidence, but when this team KNOWS it can beat the other team, it plays lights out. UNTIL the mental toughness shows up, we'll always have these games that shoulda, coulda, woulda happens.
