My thoughts from watching UNLV and BYU play today.....
1. Lon Kruger is a hell of a coach and the best coach in our league but Rose is not that far behind.
2. It is always amazing to be reminded of how important fundamentals are in big games. Rebounding the ball on defense would have changed the outcome of the game.
3. It was refreshing to watch a game where the referee's did not have a large impact on the game.
4. I hate to criticize players and I think this is the first post in which I ever had, but Tavernari's half court 3 pointer was more selfish than stupid. He put himself ahead of the team and wanted the glory of hitting a huge shot on the big stage. I like his confidence and desire but if he doesn't mature he could become a cancer to the team. I don't think his shot lost us the game, but in my own illogical estimates, our odds of winning the game was at about 30-35 % at the time of his shot and 5% after he missed and we failed to rebound.
Good year Cougs...You were fun to watch this season. I hope the team works their butts off during this off-season and soo that they can get over this 1st round hump next time!!!!!
