No, Kent State sucks. CSU sucks. While we may perennially underperform on the big stage, we're not a sucky team.

I'm as disappointed as anyone that we blew it AGAIN, but don't ignore the good things we did this year.

All the "good things" pale when it comes to March and being one and done....again. Rose gets to step up his coaching abilities when it comes to the "Big Games" and turn up the heat. I didn't see him get after anyone for all the missed rebounds and lay-ups. (but, I wasn't in the locker room to hear his rant if there was one)
I like Rose, don't get me wrong, he just gets to shift into another gear when it comes to getting the players to realize it's a "one and done mentality". and get them to perform like it was.

The problem is that we were exposed as a team that wins well at home but can't perform when it really matters. We did nothing this year that makes me think we are any good. We blew it in the MWC tournament and in the NCAA tournament. Good teams don't do that. We are really good at doing that every year.

We won the regular season in a very poor conference and were completely exposed when the pressure was on.

On the way home last night I told my wife that we would be down early, would fight our way back and would lose a close game. I am not that smart, it is just a really easy call to make with BYU basketball.

I am not impressed with any of our 'big 3' players as it relates to their being 'gamers'... let me explain myself. Trent, Lee and JT are great athletes and deserve a lot of credit for all the good things this year. BUT, none of them are gamers when it really matters, when the game is on the line in a game that actually matters. I was more impressed with Chris Miles as a big man in that game because he changed shots, was a physical presence in the post and doesn't shoot no look hook shots over his head falling down. I know he can't score like Trent is capable of but he played like a center should. Seriously, if Trent would put on 40 lbs. and learn to shot a jump hook, he would be unstoppable in the post with his height and vert.
The Cougs fought back and that was a good sign but the lack of perimeter defense was clear and no one can complain about any desperity in fouls because we settled for jump shots and they forced the issue and got to the basket more.
I don't think we're going to do that much better until we can get more guys like Jimmer who seem to play much better in the big moments. Only 5 more months until football...

Hi may name is Paul and I don't believe.

With BYU football, I believe. When UCLA lined up for the field goal, your brain told you the game was over, but then the camera panned to Bronco. You look in his face and you know we're going to win, despite all the odds. With BYU football, I believe.

But with BYU basketball, I just don't believe. I feel terrible about it, but I don't. With a four point lead against UNLV in the MWCT, I just felt like we were going to lose. When BYU came out flat against A&M...I wanted to believe, but I couldn't.

Rose is a good coach, a keeper. We are doing great. We are winning on the road in the conference, we beat Louisville on a neutral court, we played UNC tough, but get us in the T&M or in the NCAA tourney, and the team just seems intimidated.

I think maybe we need a player to really step up in the big games. In football we've got it. Beck to Harline. Utah knew what we were going to do, but it didn't matter. They just got it done. Hall to Collie. Doesn't matter the down or distance. We just need that in basketball. Someone with that killer instinct that plays better when the game is tough.

I love the team. I am proud of the team...but I just don't believe, yet.
