I think this was a real step back for BYU basketball. We had a winnable game against a rather poor tourney team. This isn't a knock on A$M, this is a knock on us. We played much better against Xavier last year, despite having in many ways a better team this year. It was certainly our worst tourney effort since the Cincinatti game.

We missed a prime opportunity to advance, and I think it will really reinforce negative perceptions about our basketball program. Next year, instead of talking about making the sweet 16, we are still going to be trying to figure out how to not choke in the tourney.

Go Cougs!!!!!

Baby steps. The goal should be to win the first tourney game. We haven't done it in almost 2 decades. that's pathetic.

We should have won tonite. We defeated ourselves. Congrats to Carter who played out of his mind. But we have no one to blame but ourselves.

I disagree that we defeated ourselves. Plain and simple, we got outplayed. Carter ties a career high, and we're out rebounded by 13... They had a higher overall shooting percentage, shot 50% from behind the arc and we had 6 less turnovers. They beat us fair and square. Had those stats been more even we could point the finger at ourselves, but they were the better team.

We lost our should've been backup PG (Murdock) and Burgess. Sam's a great FT shooter, but he is more than replaceable. We have plenty to look forward to for next season. A more season Plaisted, Cummard, and Tavernari. What's not to like about our chances of being a lot better team than we were this season?

Look at shooting percentage. And all those misses were not necessarily contested. We just didn't play. It shows up in the stats.

Don't get me wrong, the Aggies played well. They did what they had to do to win. But they did not dominate.

I definitely think we beat ourselves. A&M was very beatable tonight. We simply 1) shot poorly and 2) could not rebound to save our lives.

Our defense was AWESOME until the first shot, then we seemed to have no prayer of getting the rebound and A&M repeatedly scored on 2nd and 3rd chances.
