I'm glad this kid either (1) didn't take BYU seriously or (2) Mendenhall didn't take Katoa seriously.

Seems that Katoa has an agression problem off the field.

Katoa is under investigation for 2nd degree assault in Boulder. Katoa slammed someone's head into a wall and hit the guy in the forehead with a rock. Katoa then hit someone else in the head. Makes ballongate look like child's play.

Anyway, you can read all about it here http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/football/ncaa/03/14/cu.assault.ap/index.html

Looks like Coach Hawkins will suspend Katoa from "competition" but will still allow him to "practice" until issue is resolved. Hmmmm, sounds like a real harsh penalty considering there aren't any games in the middle of spring.

Anyway, rather see these problems in Boulder and not Provo.

This is why Bronco didn't recruit him... Bronco is a great judge of charactor. Katoa was non-Lds and had a ruff history. A god talent but not a good fit for BYU.

I'm sorry, but I'm not that magnaminous as to wish well for a kid like this. My weakness is that I wish for him to go to a BCS program that gets beaten by BYU and ends up being out-ranked by BYU.

How could someone with a God talent not be a good fit for BYU?
