So'oto for Kaveinga..... 1 Month, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Anyone really know about Vic's history as a linebacker. It seems he was All-region or something like that in California at that position. This really decreases the sting of missing out on Uona. It looks like Vic will be an immediate impact player possibly even more effective than Uona would have been since he knows the BYU way, and now with one more scholarship available. Now we just need to land Manti Teo.

It's hard to say. I think So'oto has the physical tools to be very good. He's bigger than Kaveinga (Vic is currently 6'4" 248, Uona is 6'1" 225) and slightly faster too (Kaveinga runs a 4.76 40 while Vic runs a 4.75 40...according to Scout.com). What I like most about Vic is his understanding of the TE position. It will make him that much more effective in coverage. He could be a very, very scarry pass rusher as well.

I love the idea of Vic moving over and I think it totally plays into the theory of getting the most talented players on the field. Vic is an extrmely gifted athlete and I think having him on the field in any position is a plus for us. I am glad that he is willing and that Bronco is as well... I think it bodes well for BYU's attitude, ability and effort.

Here are two links on So'oto's switch to the defense:

http://www.deseretnews.com/article/1,5143,695263510,00.html

http://www.sltrib.com/sports/ci_8610069

He was a very good linebacker in high school (Oceanside High as a freshman, and Carlsbad High from sophomore through senior years), but he knew about BYU's tradition of putting Tight Ends in the NFL, so he wanted to play on the offensive side of the ball. His ultimate goal is to play in the NFL, like his relative, Junior Seau.

I love this move. He is going to be a punisher the next two seasons. He has good size and speed...and hands.
