To Break the BCS other than a 3 hour of one-time fame, you not only need to come back 2 or 3 times in 3 or 4 years, but you have to win when you get there.

Painful as it may be to say tis out loud, Boise State and Utah won when they go tther an dthat helped the overall cause for everyone. Hawaii got killed and that erased much of the good that Utah and BSU had done. BYU needs to play better in bowl games than it has in the past, and get ther and win. Then the BCS may either need to recognize the MWC or one of the BCS conferences may need to extend an invite.

I still think the WAC messed up when teams bolted to form the MWC. The conference should have fixe drevenue sharing an dgotten over the non-sense about traditional rivalries - made two divisoins - jettisoned a couple of teams by requiring a certain stadium size and gate guarantee for visiting teams, added BSU and TCU, and then the WAC would have Utah, BSU, UH, and soon BYU that had run the table and the WAC would be very hard for the BCS to ignore. A conference with those 4 BCS Busters and occasionally very good teams like TCU and Airforce would be hard to ignore after a Champion emerged in Las vegas. It would be OK to play it on UNLV home field, becasue UNLV sucks and would never be in it.

I agree with your points. Given the current situation, I would to see a guaranteed BCS spot for the winner of a play-in game between the WAC champ & the MWC champ. The game could be played on a neutral field like UNLV.

First of all, TCU was already in the WAC and was there when the MWC was formed. They didn't get the invite because they were not part of the original WAC and they flat out stunk (they finished 10th, 16th, and 9th in the three years of the superWAC). Second, the MWC was comprised of six of the top seven teams from the WAC. Hawaii had one good year and a couple of decent years then stunk it up. BSU was still down playing d-2a teams. BYU left because the conference was watered down. The new teams went 6-13, 4-15, and 7-14 in OOC games. It was a great move at the time. If only some of the old power teams from the uberWAC would not have gotten so bad (CSU, SDST, WY and to an extent AF). The only logic I see in taking UNLV was for BBALL and to have LV as an MWC city.

vs. Mizzou eh? I think it'd be a defensive struggle to the end. ;)

Remember the last time we played Mizzou? 1983 Holiday bowl. Defensive struggle to the end and a flee flicker from Eddie Stinnett (Sp?) to Steve Young for the go ahead and winning score.

I could just see it now...Fiesta Bowl and a flee flicker from Unga to Max Hall to win the game on a touchdown 18 yards out with no time on the clock.

GO COUGS!

I've already started to notice the media is starting to recognize BYU as a national power. In an article about a recruit ESPN said...
Programs like USC, BYU, Notre Dame, Colorado and LSU are among his many scholarship offers.

To be mentioned in the same sentence as USC and LSU is a real privelege for BYU and this shows that BYU is starting to get more respect now.
