I'm not concerned at all about the offense. If anything this scrimmage excites me because the defense took it to the offense. That's only going to give them more confidence and only going to humble the offense more. Now they'll both work that much harder. Bronco has stated his two deep has mostly rounded itself into shape so I only expect to see both sides of the ball perform better and better from this point forward.

Maybe it's just my blue-goggled nature, but I think it's funny when all the chicken little's come out every off-season and say the sky is falling. Last year it seemed most people on this board expected a 7-5 season or better but few expected anything more than a 9 win season. My realistic expectations were a 10 win season with an undefeated season not out of the realm of possibility. As it turned out, once again like in '05, we were only a handful of plays from being undefeated.

I guess I can understand some people's penchant for straying on the side of caution to avoid getting their hopes up and then being dashed on the rocks. But with Bronco at the helm, you can definately err closer to your wildest dreams than your worst fears. This season is going to be amazing. Don't let the first scrimmage of the spring get ya'll worried. We are going to dominate on our way to a BCS bowl. Get your tickets early. It's going to be a fun ride.

I have to agree.I always find this a little comical. If the defense would have come out and been lambasted this thread would be about the defense and how much trouble the Cougs would be in. They wouldn't stop an offense all year. If it would have gone back and forth, then the thread would have been about the inconsistencies of both squads and how much trouble BYU would be in if they couldn't become more dependable and consistent.

Let's not forget, even with the penalties, which I'm sure were very ticky-tack, Hall was 5-8 for 120. Did they reach the endzone? No, but they also quit after George was pulled down deep in the blue zone.

Let's also remember Unga hardly played, Manase hardly played, and Fui left early for stitches (which I think is great because he never would have gotten stitch last year running the way he did).

And give some credit to a defense that is and will improve immensely daily. They're giving up less yards, completions, and are becoming more assignment sound each day. That is a great thing!

Hall and his offense, and Jorgensen and his defense will be great.

If you were hoping Bower didn't transfer, you must have never seen him throw or run. Cade Cooper, in all the ton of reps he had last spring, never once looked downfield, let alone actually throw it there. And he didn't have the arm to do it anyway. You haven't seen McEuen this spring I guess, as someone said he was so bad. He has certainly outplayed Gaskins and seems to be improving as his reps increase. I think he'll be a very good backup for Max. It seems that Gaskins lone pass attempt (as our backup) last year was intercepted and run back for a TD. Gaskins hadn't done all that much last year until the spring game and not much since then.

Go Cougs!!!

Gaskins redeemed himself with a couple of good passes in the wyoming game. All I'm saying is with how bad both backups are looking right now, with cooper and bauer in the mix all of them couldn't have been bad.

The point is moot. It was Bower's, Cooper's and Doman's decision to leave. It's not like BYU forced them to. IMO, I think it's best that all three left. If they hadn't the reps for the 2nd stringer would still be sparse. At least now, Gaskins is getting a healthy share of the reps so he can actually improve. Let's not forget that Brenden was one of the two best JC QB's at the time he walked on. Given a little more time, I think he'll be more than an adequate back up for Max. Not that we'll ever need a back up anyway. IF anybody manages to get through our OL this year to lay a hit on Max, he'll just play through the pain like he did for the Yewtah game last year. Plus, he'll be getting rid of the ball alot sooner this year. I don't expect Hall to ever leave the game due to injury in '08. Maybe in '09 with the turnover at OL but not '08.
