To improve broadcast quality, the MTN needs to start making some hay, and putting BYU games on is the best way to start. I can deal with the lion's share of BYU games on the MTN for the next couple of seasons if that in turn leads to improved production quality and even wider distribution of the channel.

Versus and CSTV are usually in different sports packages. You need the deluxe package to get both of them on Dish Network, I'm not sure about Direct TV.

Yeah, at first I was a little peeved. It did seem like a slap in the face of the flagship program's fans. But knowing that TCU has the most games on the 'other' networks is fine now that I think about it becuase they haven't ever been able to access the Mtn. And while they would now with DirecTV, they still need to draw as much interest in that market as possible. Most cable providers in Texas at least offer the option of CBS College Sports TV and Versus. In order to really improve, the MWC needs to really start harvesting some Texas recruits.

While it might seem like they are trying to 'make BYU carry the load' or BYU's fans anyway, I think we've all accepted that responsibility before just by being the 'big fish' in the small pond. We know the Wyomings and the Colorado States aren't going to draw huge interest so we've basically got to do it ourselves. We've always carried our league no matter which league we've been in. If BYU fans switching to DirecTV in droves in order to access the Mtn will get better distribution to other providers on better packages than I'll accept that responsibility so that my Cougs can start to get more recognition, land better recruits, and play against better competition.

Question: Have you settled on an offense?

Neuheisel: "That doesn't necessarily sound exciting. 'Run the ball and protect the ball' sounds very conservative. But I think if you can do both of those things successfully and commit to both of those things, the excitement then comes because the field now opens because you have to stop the run. You will bleed to death if you don't stop run."

Chow: "We're going to run the ball. To win in this game, in any league, you have to run the ball. I don't think we're going to revolutionize football. We're going to continue to do things that [Neuheisel] and I know best.

"I think now it is a matter of what skills what kids can do. We're not going to ask our kids to do something they are not capable of doing. Right now we put in base stuff that will fit just about anything, then we'll wait and see."....So they aren't capable of passing much...sorry BO,

Chow does not know the offensive players and neither does Neuheisel, not to mention that their offense did not exactly sparkle last year.

This seems like a typical Norm Chow response. He doesn't like to implement anything beyond basic offenses for players that he doesn't trust. QBs that he trusts can call their own audibles, as long as they work. But they have to understand the system first and be prepared to freelance. Doesn't sound like he'll give them much of a system to audible with right away.

UCLA has had a problem during the last few preseasons with no one at QB emerging as a solid leader. They also have few returning starters at reciever. Kahlil Bell is a good running back and is probably their best offensive player when not injured. With these circumstances, it makes sense to build around the run and make it solid. I'll guess that BYU will be seeing a lot of dumpoffs and screens on passing downs.
