Nuk13,

Funny you should mention the hair thing. When I was a prosecutor, I had a DUI case where the officers attempted a hair pull take down. The suspect wore a hair piece. When the officer testified that the technique did not work because of the hair piece, the jury was suppressing laughter and looking at the defendant, with his hair piece firmly in place and wishing for a place to hide.

While in high school I attended a fireside featuring Virgil Carter. I later roomed with two former football players from the Hudspeth era. I always wanted to play football, but a neck injury sustained before my sophomore year kept me out of high school sports, with the exception of a brief exposure to wrestling.

After returning from the Marines, I went out for the team. I was grateful to be included.

I've enjoyed this thread. I feel like I know some of you better now.

Born and raised in Orem both parents graduated from BYU. My grandfather taught religion at BYU for many years. My wife was going there when we met and I was at UVSC. I applied to BYU for my Masters in Public Administration and was rejected. I applied and easily was accepted here at ASU. I love living in Arizona. Got my Criminal Justice degree in Pennsylvania. I saw a lot of you spent time there. I am sorry but I am glad to be out. Been a fan of BYU sports all my life.

I'm an Information Systems student at BYU. I'm originally from Mexico, so if any of you is planning a vacation down there sometime soon, I have some pretty valuable advice - free of charge.

I'm originally from Mexico too. What part of Mexico?

I graduated from the Y in 2006 in Mech Engineering (I know, from my handle you'd have probably thought Business... lemmee tell ya, if I was man enough to get a handicap, it'd start with a 3, and that certainly wouldn't be the only digit. I guess I just enjoy cussing at myself on walks in lovely meadows... I'm much better at the "Dive" part of the name. Scuba is MUCH easier:laugh: ), and I'm an Engineer in the semiconductor industry (read "microchips" for all you non-geeks out there). I live in Virginia, with my wife and our 10-month old son.

No real BYU athletic connection besides intramurals, although Danny Summerhays, Golf All-American last year, and his wife were friends from our BYU married ward. After my move out to Virginia, we drove down to watch a tournament he was in, and witnessed him shoot a round of 60. Lipped out his final putt that would've given him a 59. Most amazing round of golf I've ever seen.

Other than that, our last BYU Football game as students was in 2005, on the front row of the north endzone. On the last play, we were a mere 30 feet from the outstretched fingertips of Michael Reed, and unfortunately, only 29 1/2 feet from the ball. Wow. Yep, that play pretty well epitomized my 4 years of BYU football. I try not to get too bitter about THAT being my "BYU Football back in my day" football story, but I'm sure excited for the future.

Hey GolfDiveNCougs are you in the Richmond area?

Great thread. It's nice to know stuff about my 2nd family.

My BYU connection started in the pre-earth life where I was humbly annointed and foreordained to attend the Y. My DNA strand was consequently engineered in such a manner that there was never any other thought in my mind other than attending BYU. I attended from 1967-1976 and graduated in 1976 with a teaching degree in Spanish. That was nine lovely years in paradise interrupted only by a two year mission and three year Navy stint. When people say you can't support a family teaching, they are generally correct. I left teaching after four years and have spent the balance of my life bouncing around from career to career.

I represent those few who have personally experienced the pre-Lavell years. Those were years when I would sit through rain and snow storms while we would get clobbered by the likes of CSU 59-3. Tommy Hudsputh was coach. I can't believe he bacame a Pro coach. The Detroit Lions have never recovered! Basketball was king back then. The Smith Fieldhouse would rock! After the Friday night game we would leave the stands, go straight into the West Annex, and spend the night waiting to get tickets for Saturday's game.

My thanks to all of you great posters who make my daily life a notch better.

However we are moving the end of the month to Waco, Texas so I can attend Baylor Law School. Was going to attend BYU Law School, but BYU dropped their oil and gas offerings, and Baylor offered full-ride + living stipend, and where they are on the quarter system I can attend year-round and take the bar in July '09 as opposed to July '10 at BYU (not that you care, but I feel the need to justify attending anything but BYU)

Waco is part of my home stake.

Sucks for you. (Actually, if you have any questions about how horrible the area is, please feel free to BM me.)

BYU Law isn't all it's cracked up to be.
