Gaskins has had a very poor spring. His only bright spot was last year's blue/white game. Lots of completions and very little yards. One of his completions was a 3 yard throw to Trevort and 27 yd run. Take that out of the equation and he averaged maybe 7 yds per throw. So assuming the receivers were tackled the second they caught the ball and had no additional yardage..... you get the picture. Now assuming they got a couple 3 yds after catching the ball...enough said. Someone said he had a decent year as backup. I think I saw he was 1 of 2. Well the 1 (incompletion) was actually a completion to the TCU LB and was run back tor a TD. I am voting for McEuen. His upside can be very up.

BTW...in reading the report from Monday (the 24th) team drills in the paper, I think i read where Gaskins was 3 of 5 for 7 yards. That is consistent. I agree with suuwr about Gaskins not looking downfield, let alone throwing there. We need someone who can and will. Max does as well as we need that option and mindset.

Mountaincougar-Just out of curiousity, what is your relation to McEuen?

All I have read all spring is the number of interceptions that Gaskins has thrown. Every practice report has at least 1-2 interceptions in it and it usually belongs to Gaskins. I believe Hall has 1 and McEuen has 2. That is probably a major factor in the McEuen to #2 spot this past week. We cannot win if we give the other team the ball.

Doman has also said several times that back-ups are necessary to every successful team. I think we were very lucky last year to not have to use Gaskins very much. My biggest concern is the health of Max Hall this year and if and when the back up can step in and continue the progression of a successful undefeated year.

I was thinking the same thing today when I read Hooks got hurt by... surprise surprise, picking off a Gaskins pass. So not only is he throwing picks, but now those picks are getting defensive guys injured. Great!
