I'm an Information Systems student at BYU. I'm originally from Mexico, so if any of you is planning a vacation down there sometime soon, I have some pretty valuable advice - free of charge.

Nuk13, I knew Mark Hansen (heart rate at rest of 34) Mike Hansen, David Hansen. It seems like there was one other. I also knew Rhondo, Reid, and Paul Fehlberg.

Bob Christiansen doesn't ring a bell, but I didn't know everyone on the team. I wrestled 126. Paul was in my weight class one year. I worked out with Rhondo the summer he tried out for the Olympic team.

It's also my understanding that BYU didn't care much for Coach Davis' successor making money beating the snot out of other people. That was after my time.

I doubt Coach Mendenhall wants Wagner involved in cage fighting, though it seems safer than spring ball.

The Tae Kwon Do has been good exercise, and it's been great to do with my son. I wish I could interest my daughter, but it looks like I will need to purchase to large Rottweilers instead.

I'm a former BYU athlete and Orem High Alumn. Went to school with a lot of guys on the football teams recently: Johnny Harline (His sister and my sis were very good friends), Jason Kukahiko (was in my ward), Chad Barney, Spencer White, Chris Hale, Adam Nelson, Rod Wilkerson, etc. I've been out here in Laie, Hawaii for the last couple of years livin' it up and having a great time. I'm an outdoorsman and a singer-songwriter and interestingly enough I was a Junior Black Belt and Adult Brown Belt in Kenpo. I love all cougar sports, but football is my favorite to watch and follow.

Bengal, of course ALL the Hansens were brothers. They came from a dairy farm out of Tetonia Idaho. Their dad may still run it. Aren't the Fehlbergs from Wyoming? I think I knew Rhondo.

Bob came out of Missoula Montana. Ricks recruited him and he won the national Jr. college heavyweight championship his freshman year and got 3rd his soph. BYU then recruited him and he put 2 years in for them. He converted to the church somewhere between Ricks and BYU. Now that I think of it, it would have been in the late 60s, hence you wouldn't know him. He ended up coaching at Ricks where he had some very good wrestlers. He may have coached Rulon Gardner. He did coach my student, James Huml who won 2 natl jc heavy wt championships.

Runbyu1, you know Ed Parker of Parker's Kenpo fame was from Hawaii. He is credited with having the first karate studio in the mainland and is still spoken of in the publications. He was LDS and a BYU alum. He'd have made a heqq of a linebacker. He'd have destroyed anyone in a cage and probably have been able to rip the cage out. He was in some movies and associated with Elvis P.

I don't know about the rest of you, but this is a fun thread for me. Thanks Ammoncougar.

The heavyweight while I was there was Gary Peterson. He also played football.

The Hansen brothers were all good guys, as were the Fehlbergs. Yes, the Fehlbergs were from Wyoming. They and the Hansens made Fred Davis' life a bit easier while they were there. By the way, I misspelled Rondo's name. There's no "h."

I remember Ed Parker putting on a demonstration in the ballroom of Wilkinson Center. He said people would ask him what he would do if someone hit him over the head with a 2x4. His answer, "I'd fall down." He went on the make the point that martial arts skills help you avoid such things.

Anyone living near Sandy, Utah, is welcome to visit me at Kim's Academy. I'm there Mondays and Fridays for family class. It would be fun to add some BYU fans, especially some closer to my age.

I like the addition many of you have added with your "conection to BYU" so I'll add mine. It is virtually nil...directly. Back in the late 80's, early 90's BYU offered a one-year renewable full tution & books scholarship to any High School Student Body President or Seminary President. Well the latter fell upon me and so I thought I was set. They gave us a Jr. day of sorts (except I was the only president type, the rest were brainiacs) I got to watch a BYU CSU game in which Detmer and Co. destroyed them like 53-7 or something and I was hooked. I had followed them up to that point because I lived in Bountiful area but when I saw them live I was 'smitten'. Oh, and the rest of the story is that because I had a full sememester between graduation and my mission I had to use the schollie or lose it. I didn't have the housing funds at the time and just wanted to get out and serve so I tell people that BYU wouldn't hold my scholarship while I served my mission. (which is mostly true

Go Cougs!!!

Thanks for playing on the thread. It's fun in the downtime!
