My grandma was the first female "Yell Leader" at BYU. Her parents ran the drama/theater department and have a theater named for them in the HFAC (Pardoe Drama Theater). My parents met at BYU and in my youth told me stories about watching Virgil Carter, Kressimir Kocic, etc. I was hooked way early.

Growing up in Indiana, we watched the football and basketball games on the satellite at our ward building all the time. We'd invite friends over and make food. It was a big party. When I was a Sophomore in HS, I was on the JV Hoops team. My LDS friend (also on the team) and I got flattop haircuts like Mike Smith and Andy Toolson. Our teammates gave us a bit of grief for it, but it was worth it.

My first live game was Detmer leading us to a win over Miami in 1990.

My wife and I graduated in 1996 (she's a distant cousin of LaVell), then I took her and 2 sons back in 2002 for an MBA. Every wife's and kid's dream of how to spend 2 years!

I am a market manager for Union Pacific Railroad and we live in Omaha, NE. We live on--I kid you not--"Y Street". When I was on campus last week, I got a new flag with the throwback Y logo to put in front of my house on game day. Our section of Y Street will be annexed by CougarTown Saturdays this fall. I have to do something to combat all the Husker drones. I was disheartened when my youngest told me his favorite color was red! Until he told me that his other favorite color is "Blue, like Cougar Blue; 'cause Cougars rule and Utes drool!" He's a smart kid.

Thanks to all for sharing.

I grew up in western Washington and lived in Washougal for a year when I was younger, in the early 70's. Spent most of my life in Centralia, WA until I went on my mission to San Jose, CA. I grew up a huge UW fan and still follow them, though a very distant 2nd to BYU now.

I had no idea what I was going to do with myself after my mission and since most of my mission companions/friends were going to the Y, I decided to follow my friends there. There were three players from the late 80's, early 90's that were in my mission. Mike Empey, OL, Mike Hall, LB that transfered from Tulane, and a polynesion OL (I can't remember his name). Being a huge football fan, I bought season tickets the first year I was in school (1989) and as luck would have it my future wife and I got our tickets together. I quickly found out how much she loved BYU football. Her father played in the early 50's and her family is as blue as they come.

My first season was the year that we beat Utah at home 70-31 (still my all time favorite BYU/Utah game) and I was totally hooked on BYU football from the first game. Alan Boardman (Punter from the 90's) and I had a Calculus class together an became good friends. My children are all huge BYU fans and my 11 year old son is a total fanatic. He wears a BYU shirt everyday and his favorite is the 17-10 shirt that says, "Enter to learn, Go fourth and eighteen..." on the back.

I work as a software developer for an oil an gas company in North Salt Lake, and hope the Utes lose every game, in every sport, for the rest of my natural life.

I've kinda been inactive on this board for a while, but i still love it. I am 24 and grew up in American Fork Utah ans spent a short amount of time in Vancouver, Wa. I am a production manager at a insulation company in Lindon, Ut and i am going to BYU part time and will be Graduating next April in American Studies and i will begin law school the fall after that.

My first BYU game was in the mid 80s against Arizona St. Then i moved to washington and made it back for the Miami game with my dad when i was just a small fry. I really fell in love with BYU in 1996 when i was 13 and i haven't missed a game ever since except for my mission to Sao Paulo Brasil.

I am engaged to an awesome girl from tri-cities washington and we will be getting married June 20th.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread.

Attorney in Merced, CA

My board usage is slowing down, as my billable hours have increased.

I do not see any correlation....

I was wondering how any of the accountants on this board had any time to post! It's not April 16 yet.
