Grit in my craw.... 5 Months ago Karma: 87
....irritates me--as does this most recent line from ESPN.com's synopsis of tonights drubbing of the New Orleans Hornets by the Utah Jazz:

ESPN.com wrote:
Paul had a rare off night, finishing with nine assists and only four points on 2-of-11 shooting.

They give the guy a pass, and fail to analyze why Paul might have had an off night.

Chris Paul's season averages: (only ppg and apg as they are most pertinent)

21.5 ppg 11.5 apg

Chris Paul's averages against the Jazz:

12.25 ppg 9.25 apg

This was not "an off night." This was Chris Paul getting outplayed by a better point guard who has negated the great CP3 in 3 out of 4 meetings. I just thought ESPN would give this a bit more thought as the Jazz just took 3 of 4, and one on the road from the team they are likely to see in round 2 of the NBA Tournament.

MVP my 4$$.

Easy there snoscythe . I agree CP is over-rated. Does any one think the Hornets could take the Lakers in a 7 game series? Actually, if things line up and the Hornets play the Maveriks in the first round, I am not so sure that the Hornets make the second round. The Mavs are going to be a tough first round opponant, for (looks like) the two seed. I think the Lakers can take them, but I don't think that the Hornets could. CP and DW are about the same in total talent in my book, but as far as fitting in with the Jazz, DW fits the system much better than CP would.

It's hard to argue with the best record in the west though. I doubt New Orleans goes far in the playoffs but at least they've been consistent throughout the year. That's not something you can say about the jazz.

If I was near you, I'd give you a hug for that! haha, I'm SOOOOOO sick of hearing about how great 3CPO is. Deron Williams has OWNED him in all but 1 game head to head. The thing I hate about pauls game, he bookes it into the paint, out of control, then just throws some crap pass at the feet of one of his players. Not a big fan. If he wins MVP, I'm going.... to, uh..... never watch the NBA again! except for Jazz games.

I have a couple of videos for anyone who tries to tell me he's better than Willey

And Yoot fans are deluded about their basketball program... right. Jazz fans are easily their equals and this thread proves it.

Chris Paul drives the lane out of control and throws a pass at his teammate's feet? Dude, you're an idiot. You don't lead the league with 11.5 assists while turning the ball over only 2.5 times a game by playing the way you describe it. Come on... you're smarter than that. CP3 leads the NBA in assists and steals. His team has the best record in the West. Despite DWill having a 3 inch and 30 pound advantage, CP3 still grabs more rebounds. CP3 gets a lot of love from the media and he deserves every bit of it.

It's no secret that CP3 struggles against DWill. He did in college too. He often struggles against bigger PGs, but he'll find a way to overcome that eventually. I'm sure the Hornets would not want to meet the Jazz in the playoffs.

DWill got a lot of love from the media for what he and the Jazz did in the playoffs last year. He deserved it too. As a CP3 fan, that didn't make me hate DWill or want to scream "over-rated" at the TV. DWill would laugh in the faces of anybody who criticizes CP3 like you guys do, since they're such good friends. Just chill out and enjoy watching both guys play.

Funny how you forgot this CP3s video though:

what a great argument. Thank you

paul is good, I'll admit it. BUT, HE DOES NOT DESERVE TO WIN MVP. Most of his assists are off of oops, which isn't a bad thing, I'm just sayin, when he drives, he is out of control a lot of the time.

As for MVP, if KG doesn't win it, its a freaking joke! As much as I hate Kobe, I think he'll probably get it, and I think he deserves it. He is yet to win it, and I think that he'll probably get it as a collection for a bunch of years. Then King James comes in a distant 3rd.
