I don't know if any of you saw the mountain draft special a little while ago. But I saw a replay of it the other day and I think Todd Christensen is a genius! He pointed out how he believes the NFL combine is a joke, and I agree 100%. He pointed out that we should take a page out of the WNBA's book to have the draft the next day after the championship game. I think the draft held within a few weeks of the end of the season would be sufficient.

The whole reason to have the draft immediately after the season is because then you will draft the players according to their performance on the field not their ability to do drills. How many guys have we seen their stock rise dramatically because of workouts even though their production was awful in college on the actual game field and then they were complete flops in the pros...I mean the list is very long! I think Mel Kiper and Todd McShay are full of crap! You can still scout players hard during the season so you can get a full synopsis of the players abilities.

How many times do we see superstars emerge from day 2 of the draft? The only reason they fell to day 2 was because they didn't work out well at the combine, I mean who really cares about how they perform on the field, the 40 yard dash and bench press are EVERYTHING, Right? haha its a joke!

Get rid of Roger Goodell! He's too strict anyway, skip bayless called it the "No Fun League" and I agree! I loved the touchdown celebrations, they were hilarious and fun. So I would like to throw Todd Christensens' hat in the ring to be the new commish and revamp the draft and the way the NFL is done!

One more thing I want so bad is a lifetime ban of Drew Rosenhaus from being an NFL agent! Hes a joke, he coaxes his clients into wanting twice as much as they are worth and then they whine until they are trade (See T.O., Javon Walker, Chad Johnson....This list goes on and one). Get rid of Rosenhaus and that will restore some integrity to the game. When you sign a contract, you need to follow through until the end! Then you can sell your services to the highest bidder as a free agent. The Drama and Whining is getting old!

I have one more addition to this argument for an earlier draft. It would be about 3 months earlier than the current draft so they would have 3 more months to get acclimated to their new cities and teams. They could learn a large portion of the playbook. They wouldn't be wasting a lot of time on being track athletes and all the other pesky drills they have to do. They could just start preparing for football and adjusting to the speed of the NFL game. Think of all the upside of eliminating the combine and having an earlier draft...It just makes sense to me!

Anything to get Todd out of the announcer's booth.

I agree if it gets Todd out of the booth and to a place where I don't have to listen to him. His Basketball is worse than his football and I didn't think that would be possible.

haha i guess i'm lucky. I haven't seen a game on the mountain (just got home from a mission and the mountain didn't exist if I remember right). So i haven't heard him call a game, I usually mute games anyway...Most commentators bug me. Though i'll watch a game with Al Michaels doing the play by play... But I just thought it was pure genius what Todd was saying though. Because you always hear about how warn out rookies get because of prep for the combine and the actual combine... And i don't buy a players stock going up or down everyday. It makes no sense, how can a guys stock get worse when he isn't even playing a game. The insider information is like this most times: "Well McFadden was at the movie theater and bought a tub of popcorn drenched in butter, thats gonna hurt his 40 time from a 4.33 to a 4.339 and thats gonna cost him, his stock has fallen probably 10 to 15 spots because of that unwise choice. I wouldn't be surprised if he drops out of the first round if he eats a box of milk duds with his popcorn." Like seriously thats what Mel Kipers insider information is like and he adjusts players stock frequently sometimes a few times a week. Its pointless! So I like the idea of eliminating the combine and the 3 months leading up to the draft, its garbage...
