In his defense, he did go on to say that he didn't mean to "paint all Mormons with a broad stroke." He was simply trying to illustrate why Utah is such a tough place to play in th NBA. He really was saying it more as a compliment to Jazz fans for backing their team rather than a knock on Mormons, Salt Lake City, or the Jazz.
....Though the statement was rather ignorant.
He said he didn't want to paint all mormons with a broad stroke right after he had already done it minutes before and was about to do it again. He also went on to say that the things he's heard from fans at games in salt lake are as bad or worse than any other arena in the NBA. That can be easily explained by the fact that ute fans go to Jazz games.;)
Worst racial epithets from fans I have ever heard at a sporting event were at a Jazz game. Couldn't believe my ears. Made me real embarrassed to be a member of the church. I know not everyone that goes to Jazz games are Mormon, but Utah and Mormons go together, so whatever Jazz fans do gets categorized as being related to Mormons.
Honestly, I agree with Beuker. Look at church basketball. The same high councilman preaching charity on Sunday is yelling on Wednesday at the refs who are members in his stake and starting fights with other ward's team. For some reason competitive basketball brings out the worst in Mormons and I don't think Jazz games are any exception.
Watch my Karma take a nose dive now.
