1. USC (I know they lost a lot of good people, but there is no way Pete Carroll will be denied from the championship game 3 years in a row, also Joe Mcknight is going to tear it up next year, my wife is a big USC fan so I might be a little biased )

Okay-this is obviously not my top 16...however it was in 1984 and i can dream, expect the top 5 to be filled in by BYU either this season or the next, now that's not a dream but a good possibility

Here's AP' actual end of year rankings for 1984. I liked though that you had Fullerton State at 6. Weren't they in the Big West with USU when it still had football?

I don't follow most other teams to have any real opinion on the likely top 25. I think we will start the year at 16-18, go undefeated and end at 5. I think Utah will be undefeated till we work them, and will end up 16-18 in the rankings. I'd like USC to be right at the top, but don't know if they'll be able to reload.

A couple of comments, so please bear with me:

1) To j2b03 and cougfan84: please get an image for your avatar. I have a hard time distinguishing who is saying what, when all you have is "50-meter silhouette". Remember, being in the military, I'm trained to shoot at something like that...

2) To redneckjedi: Aarrgghh... I clicked on your link, not fully realizing it was the "Increase Karma" link.... I would have done something different...

3) Now, as for the pre-season rankings, I know they can be fun to speculate, but the BC$ pundits not only cherish that as "water-cooler" material to justify the whole BC$ cartel system, but they take the pre-season rankings seriously. In fact, this is one way they can control a "non-BCS" school from ever reaching the NC game - through the pre-season rankings. NOBODY knows how teaams are going to perform, based on their schedule, so we should not reward them with being ranked a certain number before anything has been played on the field. If somebody could divine that, they would be BILLIONAIRES...

I am not tech savvy and I couldn't figure out how to do the image (I tried to upload something but it wouldn't let me), I will continue to try.
I completely agree that preseason polls are a joke and really should be taken out all together, but nonetheless and notwithstanding fun when not talking about Kessman, UW's injuries and people getting offended on CB.
