I don't suppose you know when Jesus Christ Superstar was written do you? It was written in the late '60s. That is nearly 40 years ago. That means those that are 60 now would have been 20 then and were the ones that embraced the play and caused it to be made into a movie. There are a couple of other songs that were done by some of the biggest bands at the time, the play was so popular. I wasn't even a teenager when the play came out and when my uncle, a WWII vet, was offended. That generation is not watching American Idol.
