So Bronco wants this young man to not honor his commitment to UNLV? Seems to be pretty hypocritical since he seems to remind his recruits that they need to be honest and keep their commitments to him. I also find it interesting that he offers right after it has been 18 months since he committed to UNVL (keeping in line with the recruiting rules).

Keep in mind ... I don't care that he offered. Bronco is doing what every Head Coach at every other school does. The reason it bothers me is because of what Bronco preaches. It just seems like he's expecting people to do as he says, not what he does. If you expect players to keep their commitment, then you shouldn't try to egg players into breaking them.

I know ... I'm a stupid "yewt" and all that crap.

....In short, your question did not come across to me as coming from a "stupid 'yewt,'" but from a whinny one....

I think this question from an alien seems legitimate. TT, you make a good point, but I think that if someone approaches Bronco after the 18 months, then that is not breaking one's word. That is very likely the reason the ncaa has that in there.

Hey guys, give TT a break. As outlandish his loyalties are, and I think being a Ute fan is very out there, he speaks with respect and should be treated with such. Just my opinion. The question was not stupid, just the loyalty.

I know they did not like (more like hate) the UNLV lifestyle/atmosphere, and compare USC to UNLV in lifestyle/atmosphere. I would be VERY surprised to see Manti go to USC. Just because Manti is at Punahou, doesn't mean he thinks he is "better" than his cousins that went to Kahuku and that he is too good for BYU.

But this is all about Malosi. BYU will get a gem if he accepts. I am stoked for Malosi. I was disappointed when he didn't get offered from BYU originally. He is the biggest reason that rest of the clan is as well known as they are. He was one of the featured players on ESPN's Timeless about Kahuku football. He even had a paper published by either the Honolulu Advertiser or Star-Bulletin I don't remember which. He is the oldest of the football cousins and has been a stalwart example of dedication, devotion, and values to the rest of the clan. Malosi is everything you can ask for in a leader and is in the exact mold of those players that Bronco is looking for.[/quote]

Listen here " MR EX NANILOA LOOP RESIDENT!" don't try and tell me If "I know?" You better believe I know! Just because you went to school with the Te'os doesn't mean squat. Obviously you are "talking bubbles" cause nobody said anything about Manti thinking he's better then his cousins because he goes to Punahou. Manti Te'o is one of the most respectful and humblest athlete. This is why combined with his great talent that every school is recruiting him HARD!
Oh and about your statement " IS MANTI TO GOOD FOR BYU?" If Pete Carroll can go back on his word and grant Manti the chance to serve a mission and said no to Sione Havili? YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT!

Maybe Malosi and his parents didn't like the UNLV lifestyle but that doesn't mean Manti and his parents feel the same. It's all about what's best for their son and because USC will grant him his chance to serve his 2 and is one of the top school in football every year aaaaand he will recieve a grerat education MANTI TE'O WILL SIGN WITH USC no matter where his cousins play. If they wanted to all play together why didn't Manti stay and play at Kahuku?

I wonder how Kehl's draft status and early NFL performance will affect Manti's decision. If Kehl can create some buzz on draft day and in his first NFL season, then maybe it will show that BYU can still produce stand out linebackers. Of course we won't have as many NFL LBs as USC, but the more the better. We had Rob Morris until an injury ended his time in Indy, Poppinga in Green Bay and next year maybe Kehl can work his way into a starting job or significant playing time.

USC linebackers Ray Maualuga and Kaluka Maiava both of samoan decent and from Hawaii have been talking to Manti so I let you figure out the rest.

Okay ... I need some of you who are more knowledgeable to educate me.

Does a commitment end after 18 months? If someone signs a letter with Bronco, does that commitment end after 18 months? If so, then please disregard my previous message.

was under the impression that once you singed with Bronco, he expected you to play for him (period). I want to be fair to him though, so can someone enlighten me?

The NCAA standard LOI has an expiration of 18 months if the athlete is not enrolled in the school. The school is not obligated to hold his scholarship at that point, nor is the athlete bound to play for that school.

I sense some bitterness that Manti is considering BYU and not the Hawaiian Hypeline Warriors. Get over it bra.

So I'm probably going to sound pretty ignorant with this one, but that's why I'm asking it.

So I've heard rumblings that samoans and tongans tend to not like each other much, with many of BYU's players being tongan do you think that would have an affect on recruiting samoan players? Or is that just kind of a silly thing to think?

I really don't know a lot about either culture, I'm just curious.
