After attending my graduation commencement yesterday I went out to eat with my family at a local restaurant. In the middle of my meal I was suprised to see none other than Gary Crowton walk in and sit at the table adjacent to mine. I couldn't help but wonder what brought him to Provo (recruiting, family, football, vacation, etc).

He was sitting with two other men who were farely large and also seemed to have ties with football.

He was also sporting his 2007 LSU National Championship hat. The hat had "national champion" and "BCS" labeled all over it. (Rubbing it in to BYU fans or a recruiting messsage perhaps?)

Note: I like GC as a person, and as an OC. He just wasn't the best of head coaches. I'm glad he has found success at LSU

I don't think he was wearing the hat to rub in the Nat'l Championship or BCS. The guy had good intentions while here at BYU. I don't think he was trying to ruin the program or lose games. He lost control of the team and couldn't regain it. It's one thing for Crowton to be mad if he got canned after some good seasons, but we're talking three losing seasons in a row. He would have to be pretty sick in the head to think there weren't grounds for his dismissal.

He was probably here recruiting that o-lineman from timpview that every school and their dog is after.

If I had a BYU 2008 BCS National Champions hat I would wear it to a recruiting trip to New Orleans. I think GC recruited some kids to BYU that weren't a natural fit. That was his only mistake in my uneducated opinion. While I hated listening to the team losing games, he showed that with a talented crew he was great (2001).

It is graduation week, did he have a kid graduating from BYU? That might explain his presence as well. Of course, recruiting dem Marman and Utah boys should be right up his alley as well.

That and wanting to win by nine rather than two. Oh and traveling the day of to a road game wasn't the best idea either.
