Did the refs help Phoenix miss 17 free throws out of 37?

No. Nor did they cause Steve Nash to throw a bounce pass to Diaw's ankle, nor did it cause Diaw to airmail the ball to the Spurs bench. Phoenix had every chance to win the game. I'm just pointing out that the officiating has become unbearable. It effects all teams about the same.

Any game that Steve Javie officiates for the Jazz will be poorly called, so I kind of throw those ones out because its obviously a personal thing between him and Jerry Sloan.

As soon as they announced who the officials were last night, and heard Steve Javie's name on the crew, I knew the Jazz would automatically be playing 5 on 6...

I was listening to one of the sports radio stations and the sports beat writer for the Jazz ( I can't remember his name for the life of me) said that Steve Javie asked to officiate the game. He baisically went on and said because of that he thought the series would be returning to Salt Lake City. It is almost like the Jazz thought the same thing because they played horrendous. They got beat in every phase of the game.

I hate, hate, hate discussions about how bad referees are.

With that out of the way I can say that I completely agree that refs in the NBA have ruined every level of basketball there is simply because the way they alter the game in the little calls has altered every little kid who is trying to "be like Mike (or anybody else in the league)!!!

Case in point: a "shooting foul" is when someone is shooting and gets fouled, not gets fouled and then shoots! I can't stand those types of calls!

fhew. I at least feel a little better.

After getting completely frustrated last night as my favorite team (the Jazz) and my distant second favorite (the suns)...I really don't even know what to say about those games. All I know is that I decided that if I continue to let sports get me this upset I'm going to have a heart attack at thirty. And this was mild compared to what I go through during BYU football.

PS sorry if that came out of the blue, but I might need an intervention at some point.

As I implied at the start of the thread, the Suns completely gave away the whole series (in particular games 1 and 5). They had every reason to win, then managed to pull defeat from the jaws of victory by means of an incredible display of ineptitude and chokery.

That being said, just because the refs didn't cost them the series, that doesn't mean they (the refs) weren't horrible.
