I agree with you 100%. I enjoy the show for the train wrecks to start the season and to see how the talent rises to the top. I think America gets it wrong at times, like this week. Jason was horrible and should be gone. Carly had the best performance of the night.

You called it right about Simon and Paula. What's up with her chest pressing bodice last night? Not a good look for her. Simon doesn't understand American tastes either, so there are times he's wrong because of that. But overall, he's the best judge.

Archuleta has this won already, though Castro will give him a run for his money. Brooke is wholesome and sweet. Jason is wierd and Aishia (sp?) has some great singing talent, but was too late in the game. The guys win this season.

I know what you meant but it's Cook (David) not Castro who will give Arculeta a run. I still think because of diversity the David Cook will win it in the end. I keep telling my wife though, regardless of who wins they will all have a shot at a music contract sometime somewhere.

The think I've liked most about Brooke is that even though she always looks ready to cry, she is remarkably poised and doesn't back down. I like that she is unafraid to share her beliefs (not just church stuff) but to defend her violinist a few weeks back by suggesting Simon apoligize, despite the risk of America's perception, I like that. She will, IMHO, be gone after next week but she has been good for the Church.

David Archuleta doesn't win in my mind because he's too young. I know people say he has the younger generation because he's young and the older women because he can sing so romantically. But David Cook has the rest in between and he has the variety to go with it.

As someone said in the D-News commentary last week. These people are vocalists and musicians, not artists. At least what we see week to week. They are not doing a ton of writing and arranging. They have "the pipes" to sing other artists music extremely well. Just like Garth Brooks who wrote very few of his own songs.

It's been interesting to see all these comments and opinions about a non-sports topic.

Cook is very good, but I really think Archuleta captured the most support over the season. I actually thought Carly would be the stiffest competition, but felt her tatts would be her undoing in the end. Brooke is a strong woman, I agree and she'll find success some how.

I think writing will come. Writers are always around. Singing talent is important, then they can develop their own styles using their own compositions.

Simon keeps saying song choice is as important as talent, and I think Carly choice the wrong song. Lots of conservative Americans take offense by the song "Jesus Christ, Superstar." I rememebr my mom was really unhappy about that play years ago. I think she lost a ton of votes because she doesn't understand Americans.

I thought about that as I remember my uncle saying the same thing. However, that generation doesn't vote on American Idol so it's really a non-issue. I thought the same because of my uncle until I saw the movie and how it fit in a modern interpretation. She utterly nailed the song and the voting crowd could care less about the song's apparent rebellious side. They voted against her because they like the others better, even if she does have more talent than some of those that survived.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if 200,000 votes a week are cast by that generation. Take 100,000 votes from the 50+ crowd and that could be enough to make the difference.

If that is the case, then how does your tatts statement from an earlier post bear sway? Certainly "kids today" who aren't offended by seemingly sacreligious songs aren't offended by tattoes.

The young (18-30) conervative Christian Americans who got George Bush in office clearly have a loud voice.

I don't suppose you know when Jesus Christ Superstar was written do you? It was written in the late '60s. That is nearly 40 years ago. That means those that are 60 now would have been 20 then and were the ones that embraced the play and caused it to be made into a movie. There are a couple of other songs that were done by some of the biggest bands at the time, the play was so popular. I wasn't even a teenager when the play came out and when my uncle, a WWII vet, was offended. That generation is not watching American Idol.

The tatts she has are excessive, even by this generations standards. Did you see her husband? He's the Illustrated Man from Bradbury's book.

Oh, and if the conservative Christians that voted for Bush really are voting in AI, they would have bounced the two Mormons out by now, like they did Romney in the primary.

Seriously, the Daves, Jason, and Brooke have their followings among the voters and have for some time. Jason deserved to be bounced after his horrible rendition of Memories. Carly's performance was so strong that the only reason she was bounced is because she isn't a favorite among the voters, not because of the song she sang.
