It's not necessarily the # of free throws by themselves, it's the consistency (or lack thereof) in how they are called. When you give your MVP "star treatment", then there is an issue. Kobe, by himself, has as nearly as many FTAs as the entire Jazz roster...
As for the Jazz not winning in LA, that may be true; then again, they could. Can the Lakers win in Salt Lake in the post-season? Apparently not. (and may not). It applies both ways.
