Actually this years team is supposed to be the real deal. They are projected to have at least 5 players taken in the 1st round next year and I have seen projections of up to 7 players. Also, the thought is that USC QB and RB play will not be up to the usual USC standard so all the so called "experts" think the maturing year OSU had last year should propel them all the way to the BCS NC (and winning it) and winning at USC early on.

There's never an excuse to lose to Stanford when you're USC and get the best two players at every position every year. Not to mention it was at the Coliseum.

No, USC will once again be good, but I have a feeling they may be losing in LA this year to the buckeyes.

Perhaps the thinking is OSU with one "close loss" at USC will still be a top contender for the NC because the rest of the Big-10 won't be much competition this year, while USC will have a tougher time going undefeated in the PAC-10. Also USC lost something like 10-11 players to the first two rounds of the NFL draft so they are rebuilding or at least reloading this year.
